You need to send a PRN file to the installed printer to get a print-out of the document. Sometimes you need to create a PRN file when you have created some useful document and find that there is no printer installed or the printer is not working. PRN file is particularly helpful in situations where you are not allowed to open personal files on the computers. You need to take a print out of your resume but do not want to open it in a shared network environment in the office. The PRN contains all the information including driver command that is understood only by a printer. You can open this file in a Notepad but it consists of all the characters or other text not understandable by humans. The only thing you can do is to copy this file to a USB drive or send it to another system on a network where the access to a printer is available. Follow the steps below to send PRN file to a printer.

How To Print.prn File Using C# Rating: 4,6/5 3663 votes I am working with 2.0.Net framework. I am trying to build a class, within a C# class library, which will programmatically read binary data (images) from a database table and then print the images on one or more pages.
Using Command Prompt
.prn File Extension; Open Prn File In Word; How To Print.prn File; C# questions are beyond the scope of this consumer-oriented peer support forum. It's not clear what you mean by 'print. As a label,' but.prn files - in Windows at least - are the raw output files (including printer control characters) from Windows printer drivers. Whenever the program tries to use the printer function, it either hangs or gives the 'failed to open file' message. It would be really appreciated if someone can give me a hand here, oh and the OS I'm using is Windows XP. And I would prefer if I didn't have to use the MFC or the Windows API if possible, but if this is the only way then it's OK. This wikiHow teaches you how to upload a PRN file to an online file converter, and download a PDF version of the same file, using an internet browser. Open File-Converter-Online.com's.
Network Printer
In case you have shared the printer on a server in a network, you need to copy the path of this printer. Go to control panel>Devices and printers.
Now you can see that a printer installed on the network will be like Printer-name on Server-name or printer-name on IP-address.
Now right click the start button in windows OS and navigate to the command prompt(admin). Open it and type the following command.
COPY F:Filename.PRN /B Server_NamePrinter_Share_Name
Note If the Network printer is installed using an IP address, you need to replace Server_Name with the IP address of the server like 192.168.1. xx
Here F is the source drive where you have your PRN file. It can be a computer partition drive or a USB drive letter.
The filename is the name of the PRN file you have saved.
Server_name is the computer in the network on which printer is installed.
Printer_Share_Name is the printer's name. For example, HP LaserJet or Epson-L220, etc.
Local Printer
If you are on a computer where the printer is directly installed on it. You just have to replace the Server_Name with the Computer_Name.
To find the computer name, go to Desktop and right click on My-Computer. Here you will find the Desktop Name which is your computer's name.
Copy the computer's name and use it in the command.
COPY F:Filename.PRN /B Computer_NamePrinter_Share_Name

Option 2 – Using Commands in Windows
1. Share the printer on the network. If the printer you are using is already on a network such as your company network, skip this step.
2. Now we have to find the network path to your printer. If the printer you wish to print to is a company shared network printer that is not attached to your computer, it should have the server name and printer name under your list of Printers. It will say something like printername on PrintServer or LaserJet on PrintServer. So the path to these printers would be PrintServerprintername and PrintServerLaserJet respectively.
3. If the printer is attached to your PC, the path will be the computer name and then the name of the printer. You can find your computer name by right-clicking My Computer and selecting Properties under the Computer Name tab. The name of the printer can be found under Printers in Windows by right clicking on the printer and selecting Properties. The printername is in the top field. So if my computer name is TP123 and the printer name is LaserJet, the path would be TP123LaserJet.
4. Armed with this information, we can then go to Start > Run and use this command to copy the file to the printer. This command assumes the PRN file is located on the root of the C drive:
COPY /B C:FILENAME.PRN TP123LaserJet
The printer should then print out the contents of the PRN file.
